Tarantate: Luxury Italian Leather Shoes Designed for the Untamed.
Tarantate Shoes blend centuries-old craftsmanship with bold design and unapologetic sensuality. Inspired by the wild, sensual, and liberated legacy of the Tarantate women of Southern Italy and Sicily, each pair is an adornment ritual of embodied power, pleasure, and reclamation.
This lineage crossed oceans. It lived in the women who landed in New York City — women who carried their fire into tenement kitchens, garment factories, street markets, and late-night corners of the city, shaping a culture of loyalty, grit, beauty, and defiant femininity. Their resilience and sensual intelligence are woven into every design.
More than a brand, Tarantate is made for the woman who leads a double life and transitions effortlessly from corporate empires to pleasure activism, from the strategic to the primal and seductive.
We dedicate 10% of profits to the fight for sex work decriminalization, standing with women who refuse to be tamed, silenced, or defined by others.
Because some women follow the rules.
Others write their own.
COMARE $229
Street Queen Energy.
Effortless Authority.
Comare carries a name with weight. In Southern Italian culture, a comare is more than a friend — she is the confidante, the ride or die, the woman who knows your secrets and holds your power when you forget it. Loyalty with edge. Soft when she chooses, untouchable when she must be. This shoe was created in her honor.
Crafted in Italy, Comare reimagines the classic low top through a Tarantate lens: clean, sculpted lines, bold embossed accents, and panels of reflective silver material that catch the light like a knowing glance.
By day, it’s understated. By night, it glows with quiet defiance. The silhouette slips effortlessly between morning hustle and midnight wanderings — grounded by a durable Italian rubber sole and padded for all-day movement.
Designed for the woman who walks with intention and owns every room she enters, Comare is comfort sharpened into confidence. Even at your most casual, you move like someone worth watching.

Tarantate
Kate Bailey is the founder and creative force behind Tarantate. An Italian American designer, creatrix, and communication leader, her work lives at the intersection of fashion, culture, and embodied presence. As an AuDHD Nuit and creator of the Play Big Queen Podcast, she brings uncompromising vision and emotional intelligence to everything she builds. Born in New York with roots in Sicily and Southern Italy, Tarantate is both a cultural reclamation and a love letter to the ancestors and untamed women who shaped her.
Tarantate is not just a fashion house.
It is a statement of liberation.
From the beginning, we commit 10% of profits to the fight for sex worker rights and decriminalization.
Tarantate’s mission is to create beauty that funds freedom.
Sex worker decriminalization is not a fringe issue. It is a human rights imperative. When sex workers are criminalized, they are pushed into danger, denied protection, and targeted instead of supported.
Decriminalization saves lives. It reduces violence, increases safety, improves public health outcomes, and strengthens entire communities.
Tarantate stands with the women who refuse to be punished for their power. Supporting sex worker rights is a commitment to dignity, autonomy, and a world where no woman’s survival is used against her.
And to be clear: trafficking and sex work are not the same.
Trafficking is exploitation. It is coercion, force, and abuse. It is a violation of human rights.
Sex work is something entirely different. It is consensual labor chosen by adults, often for reasons as complex and valid as any other profession.
Treating these two realities as identical is what keeps harm in the shadows.
Criminalization collapses the distinction. It punishes people who are not causing harm, while making it harder to identify and stop the people who are.
When the law targets consensual workers, trafficking victims become harder to reach, harder to protect, and harder to support.
Decriminalization creates the clarity and safety needed to address both.
For the woman who wants to leave sex work, decriminalization opens doors. It allows her to access services without fear, build new pathways, and ask for help without risking arrest.
For the woman who chooses to stay, it protects her right to work in safety, access resources, and live without violence or stigma.
And here is the truth the world prefers to ignore: society profits endlessly from women’s beauty and sensuality — in our stories, art, fashion, nightlife, entertainment, marketing — everyone profits except the woman being objectified. Decriminalization restores that imbalance.
For those who choose sex work as their profession, it affirms their right to own their wholeness, their integrity, and their sensuality as a woman of choice.
And although not only women benefit from sex work decriminalization, the empowerment of women will always be incomplete without a reclamation of the erotic. The erotic is about far more than sex. It is about eros, love, and the internal yes a woman feels in a world that often refuses to hear her no. That yes can be a pair of stilettos or an androgynous street shoe. A woman’s yes does not discriminate.
Sex work culture has shaped how so many of us reclaim our life force energy. When we go to a pole class, a burlesque show, a pleasure workshop, or a lingerie boutique, we are drawing from a lineage of sensual performers and erotic laborers who taught the world how to be alive in its own skin.
Tarantate honors that lineage by giving back to the culture that inspires us — a culture that reminds us what it looks like when desire is reclaimed rather than controlled.
Decriminalization is not about glamorizing any industry. It is about honoring autonomy, refusing to confuse consent with coercion, and building a world where every woman can live, work, or transition on her own terms.
Tarantate stands with that truth unapologetically.
At Tarantate, every decision begins with the question: how do we create beauty without unnecessary harm?
Traditional fashion photoshoots carry environmental costs that often go unseen. Flights for models and crews. Freight shipping for samples. Studio energy use. Single use sets and props. Makeup, hair, adhesives, sprays, solvents, and chemical cleaners that are used once and discarded. Garments produced solely for imagery, then never worn again. Reshoots that double the footprint. Waste that rarely makes it into the final image.
We choose AI models because they allow us to dramatically reduce many of these impacts. By working digitally, we avoid travel emissions, excess sample production, disposable set materials, and chemical heavy styling processes. One digital asset can replace multiple physical shoots and significantly cut material waste.
This approach also allows us to be more inclusive of disabled models. Traditional shoots often require long hours, travel, physically demanding conditions, and environments that are not designed with access or sensory needs in mind. AI enables us to collaborate in ways that respect energy limits, mobility, chronic illness, neurodivergent needs, and fluctuating capacity, without asking bodies to perform beyond what is safe or sustainable for them.
Using AI also allows us to cast models that reflect the real lineage and community behind Tarantate. Rather than relying on anonymous or industry standardized faces, we can ethically create models inspired by friends, chosen family, and relatives of the Tarantate family, with consent. This keeps our imagery grounded in lived history, cultural continuity, and the people who actually shape the brand, not just those who fit conventional fashion molds.
We are also honest about the tradeoffs. AI is not impact free. It uses energy, water, and infrastructure, and we do not claim perfection. What we believe in is intentional reduction. Fewer flights. Fewer samples. Fewer chemicals. Fewer single use decisions disguised as industry standard.
This choice reflects our commitment to slow fashion, access, cultural integrity, and process refinement. We are actively working to limit AI usage to what is necessary, reuse digital assets responsibly, and continually evaluate tools and partners with efficiency and sustainability in mind.
We see this as an evolving practice, not a finished answer. The fashion industry will not change through purity or absolutes, but through honest choices that reduce harm, expand access, and honor where we come from.
Tarantate is committed to that work.
